An old friend…

You know, sometimes when you’re caught up in the trappings of what it takes to play rock music – booking shows, making flyers, promoting, networking, websiting (that’s a word, right?), etc. – it’s easy to lose sight why you started playing music in the first place.  Here’s what helps me remember -

When I was 17, I got a Peavey 1 12″ amplifier on my birthday.  The thing was used, already probably a decade old.  It sounded great though, and after spending the previous few years cutting my teeth on the world’s shittiest practice amp, it was a gigantic upgrade.

To this day, I have not found an amp that I prefer the clean tone on over this little guy.  It’s surprisingly warm for a solid-state amp, and very crisp.  Sounds great distorted too.

I still play through it all the time at home.  I love playing through this thing.  I wish it was louder for gigging.  It’s been a trusty friend throughout the ups and downs of being a musician.  Here’s to you, Peavey Bandit!

Witness the rebirth of 21st century Chicago’s greatest rock band as we return to Subterranean to lay waste to your ears.

Douchey enough?  Ok, good.

Seriously though, come see us play.  We’ve got a few shows in the pipeline, but this is our first one since a little while and we really love SubT – so let’s make it a good one.
